Protect your trip payments in case you are not able to travel
When registering, families will have the choice between two options to purchase Trip Cancellation upgrades.
Option 1) Trip Cancellation Upgrade
Upon registration families will have the option to purchase Trip Cancellation coverage. With this benefit if you cancel your trip due to an unforeseen covered event, you can be reimbursed for your trip payments to Academic Expeditions, not already refunded by our Cancellation Terms. Covered events include but are not limited to:
- Sickness, injury or death of traveling student, their traveling companion or a family member.
- Covid is covered the same as any other sickness. There is no exclusion specific to covid.
- Inclement weather that causes the complete cessation of flight or bus services for at least 12 consecutive hours.
- Quarantine of the student of their traveling companion.

Option 2) Cancel For Any Reason Upgrade
With this option families receive the aforementioned Trip Cancellation benefits plus Cancel For Any Reason coverage.
- Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR): up to 75% of the non-refundable trip cost according to the Academic Expeditions cancellation terms. (Cancellation Terms & Conditions(opens in a new tab))
- To be eligible for the Cancel For Any Reason Benefit the payment for the plan must be received by Academic Expedition no later than 30 days from the initial payment or deposit for your trip; and you must cancel your trip two days (2) or more before your scheduled departure date.
- CFAR is not currently available for residents of New York.
